Join us for an escape, by snowshoe, into the depths of the northern winter woodlands. Experience frozen cedar swamps, view wildlife tracks (if we are lucky, we may even see grey wolf tracks!) and trek across frozen shores as we traverse the peninsula.
Take in the solitude of the boreal forest hibernating for the winter. Observe the activities of creatures adapted for life in Mother Nature’s extremes through sight and sound. Unique to this outing, aside from natural elements, is the opportunity to participate in a Leave No Trace Clinic while out on the preserve.
Participants must be able to walk 3 miles with snowshoes on an unmarked trail in a remote location.
Trip fee is $25, includes a UP traditional lunch, and Leave No Trace (LNT) materials and certificate. Limited snowshoe rentals are available for $10 with advanced reservation. Enrollment is limited to 20 people.
