AMOH (A Matter of Honor) is proud to host New York Times bestseller and former US Army Captain Luis Carlos Montalván at the AMOH kick-off event this Veteran’s Day.
AMOH is an organization formed for the purpose of educating the American public about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as it relates to military service. There is a great deal of attention currently being directed toward PTSD but most of the emphasis is on the drama surrounding it instead of the factual information about the symptoms and the wonderful, heartwarming stories of soldiers and veterans who have triumphed over PTSD. The result of all of the negative attention surrounding PTSD is fear. The average American isn’t informed about PTSD and until we, as a society, become more educated and further understand PTSD, we will continue to fear it.
Captain Montalván is a decorated veteran who served this country for 17 years, including multiple combat tours. After leaving the Army, Luis found himself, like so many of our veterans, in an unfamiliar place physically, emotionally, spiritually and mentally. He struggled to find the balance needed to restore what was broken within his spirit and body. Luis is the author of New York Times bestseller, Until Tuesday: A Wounded Warrior and the Golden Retriever Who Saved Him.
