The Petoskey District Library has collaborated with retired medical librarian Dottie Hawthorne to offer health education for the public in a new series titled Understanding Your Health. The first program, “Choosing Reliable Digital Resources”, will take place on Friday, May 6 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Library classroom. Finding and navigating reliable health resources online can be daunting. Dottie will guide the group through several reputable sites, offering tips for how to navigate and evaluate health information online.

Dottie Hawthorne is a retired librarian from the Mayo Clinic Medical Library in Rochester, MN. She practiced her library skills serving physicians, researchers, nurses and allied staff for thirty two years. Prior to that she was librarian of the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. She has a BS in Medical Technology from Michigan State University, and a MS in Librarianship from Western Michigan University, where she met her husband, Frank. They were both born and raised in small towns of lower Michigan, and are happy retirees to Petoskey since April 2015. Dottie enjoys hiking, traveling, reading and gardening.
This program is open to the public; Please register by calling the library 231-758-3100 or sign up online.
