5:00-6:00 Bluestem Farm tour
6:00 – 8:00 Potluck and Nathan Bates Concert
Set your hoe down this October with a day of good country fun at Antrim County’s Bluestem Farm. Described as “mellow but full-bodied,” the music of local songwriter and chef Nathan Bates is rhythmically engaging and acoustic — the perfect counterpoint to the peak of autumn in the beautiful north. Come early to the evening barn concert and get a chance to see the animals up close, meet Bluestem Farm’s knowledgeable farmer-guides, and gain insight into the ways this diversified, artisanal farm weaves vegetable gardens, woods, and animal pastures into a living patchwork of many mysteries.
Families are welcome. This event, like farming, happens rain or shine. Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes you won’t mind getting dirty. If you’re coming to the concert, please bring along a chair or blanket to sit on and a flashlight to find your way back to your car. Event parking is on the north side of M-32, on Adams Road. No dogs or alcohol, please. Bring along a blank T-shirt or canvas bag if you like, and we’ll be glad to silkscreen them for you with the farm’s pitchfork logo, free of charge.
No reservations required. This event is sponsored by Bluestem Farm and Nathan Bates. Donations for Nathan are gratefully accepted at the door. For more information, contact Mary at [email protected] or call 231-459-8968.
