Nationally renowned artist and Petoskey resident, Heidi Amenda Marshall to exhibit at Three Pines Studio July 2 – 18, 2016
(Please call for times.)
Ticks, frostbite, and bears are only a few of the environmental hazards Heidi Marshall has faced in her line of work. An En Plein Air painter, Marshall’s pieces are a melding of the exterior and interior landscapes; how the landscape presents itself to the artist and the emotional, initial response to the experience.
Marshall’s work is currently on display for a solo show at the University of Michigan and has gained national critical acclaim including but not limited to National Parks Award winner and Best in Show at the Leland Plein Air Competition.
The daughter of the chief illustrator for the Detroit News, Marshall knew how to maneuver a paintbrush before she did a pencil. After a successful career as a Senior Copy Writer and then Creative Director for advertising firms Leo Burnett, Saatchi & Saatchi, and Young & Rubicam, Marshall left the corporate world to peruse En Plein Air painting full time.
“[En Plein Air painting] engages all of your senses and all of that goes into your soul,” Marshall said. She collaborates with nature to complete extremely compelling landscape paintings.
Three Pines Studio in Cross Village is pleased to exhibit Marshall’s work from July 2 – 18, 2016 with an opening reception on July 2nd from 2–7pm. Since 2000, Three Pines Studio has been honoring their mission to support Michigan artists north of the 45th parallel.
