The Bay Film Series presents the documentary film “Red Army” April 12-14 at The Bay Theatre in Downtown Suttons Bay. The Soviet Union’s Red Army hockey team was a hugely successful sports dynasty. Told from the perspective of its long-time captain Slava Fetisov, the story portrays his transformation from national hero to political enemy as well as a look at the way sports mirrors social and cultural movements. Red Army is an inspiring story about the Cold War played out on the ice rink and a man who stood up to a powerful system and paved the way for change for generations of Russians.
“Wittily edited and beautifully scored “Red Army” is not just a terrific film but an important one – even if you don’t give two hoots about ice hockey.” – Seattle Times
