Contemporary folk artist Jesse Hickman is the next “Talk About Art” interview, Thursday, Feb. 20, 7:30 p.m., Glen Arbor Art Association, 6031 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor.

Hickman, a Northport resident, depicts boats, fish and the water through mixed media, 3-D constructions, painting and pencil sketches. He translates his ideas into wry, whimsical work using recycled and unconventional materials, including tar, found wood, burned sticks, crushed cans and rusted metals. During the course of his nearly 40-year career, Hickman has exhibited in more than 70 solo and group exhibitions. His work is also found in national art and craft museums.

“Talk About Art” is a series of conversational interviews with local and regional artists. They’re conducted by Sarah Bearup-Neal, studio artist and member of the GAAA Board of Directors; and take place monthly, from January through April. For more information, please call the GAAA, 231/334-6112.
