On May 25th Grayling will be filled with artists and art aficionados enjoying the Grayling 2013 Annual Spring Art Walk. This year have your picture taken with famous art. Walk, bike or drive around Grayling to shop all your favorite stores. At 7 locations you will find life-sized, 8 foot, painted panels depicting recognizable art recreated by local artists. Artist recreations parody work by Andy Warhol, Toulouse-Lautrec, Edvard Munch, Leonardo da Vinci, Grant Wood, Norman Rockwell and Peter Max. Have fun taking your own photo replacing the face in your favorite painting with your own face and send it to family and friends…Or, have one of our AAV Photographers take a photo, digitally place it within a remembrance border, then send it all in a jpeg file to you via email for only a $5 donation. Be sure to use the map provided to find all 7 works of art.
Adding to the fun, take part in the POKER RUN! Collect only ONE documented playing card from each participating store in Uptown Grayling. Run, bike drive or walk to Skip’s, Northbound Outfitters, Westside Diner, Comfort Center, DuBois Lumber and Motel 72 to get TWO cards. Collect 5 cards or more to claim your best winning poker hand at the AuSable Artisan Village Art Gallery in Uptown Grayling. The winners of the best three hands will be awarded gift certificates to be used at participating merchants.
Don’t forget to mark your calendar for Saturday, May 25th, the Grayling Spring Art Walk; 1pm to 5pm. Poker Run drawing will be held at the AuSable Artisan Village at 5pm. Maps identifying the locations of all 7 art panels will be at all participating businesses a week prior to the Art Walk.
