Chain-of-Lakes History Comes Alive!

Local historians Ed McDuffie and Herb Moir bring the fascinating history of the Elk River Chain-of-Lakes alive with stories and anecdotes.

Ed and his late wife Mary Kay are co-authors of Torch Lake: The History of Was-Wah-Go-Ning. Herb, affectionately known as “The Chainsaw Guy,” brings a lifetime of experience. Whether it’s about railroad expansion, logging, river diversions and dredging, surveyors and entrepreneurs or Tar Lake; Ed and Herb provide the detail to fill in “the rest of the story.”

A wine and cheese reception follows the program.

Co-sponsored by Grass River, Three Lakes Association, Torch Lake Protection Alliance, Friends of Clam Lake and Intermediate Lake Association in partnership with Antrim Conservation District and Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council.

For more information and to register, call the Grass River Natural Area office, 231.533.8314.

Alden is located on the southeast tip of beautiful Torch Lake, about 35 minutes from Traverse City.
