October 23, 2016 at Red Sky Stage in Petoskey:

Michigan Fingerstyle Guitar Society and the Red Sky Stage are proud to present Pino Forastiere, an internationally renowned Italian guitarist living near Rome, Italy. He creates compositions that include aspects of Jazz, Rock, Improvisational, and Classical music. It actually defies genre; it is a by-product of his diverse and intense background.

Forastiere graduated from Santa Cecilia Conservatory, which is considered the most prestigious school of classical music in all of Rome. Fifteen years ago Forastiere moved away from using classical nylon-stringed guitars and decided to compose his music on lightly amplified steel-stringed instruments after hearing a CD of the Late American composer and guitar extraordinaire, Michael Hedges.

In 2012, at the New York Guitar Festival, Forastiere presented “From 1 to 8”, a collection of eight studies for contemporary acoustic guitar focusing on different technical and compositional aspects. In 2010/11 and 2013/14, he toured with the International Guitar Night (US and Canada). In January 2015 he released his fifth solo album (and ninth of his discography) “Deconstruction”.

In the Italian language, ‘Forastiere’ means foreigner or stranger.
By no means should you be a stranger to this great music!

“Prepare to be transported to another dimension.” Jam Magazine

“Highly recommended for fans of contemporary instrumental music & guitarists wanting to hear the potential of the acoustic instrument played at the highest level imaginable.” Minor 7th

The Michigan Fingerstyle Guitar Society is a 501 (3) (c) non-profit organization promoting guitar workshops and performances since 2001.
