The public is invited to join the Petoskey Regional Audubon Society (PRAS) on Tuesday, May 9 for a free program featuring James Dake, author of the regional best-selling book, Field Guide to Northwest Michigan.

Dake will speak on the making of the field guide and share the stories behind the photographs of Michigan plants and animals that make up the field guide and illustrate what makes Northwest Michigan unique.

Dake is the Education Director at Grass River Natural Area in Bellaire. He grew up in Flushing, Michigan and studied science education at Central Michigan University and Western Michigan University. He is a certified teacher in the state of Michigan and has a Master of Arts in Science Education.

The program begins at 7 p.m. at Northern Lights Recreation, located at 8865 Harbor-Petoskey Road, Harbor Springs, and it is free and open to the public. Call PRAS Publicity Coordinator, Lisa Hoyt, for more information 231-675-7222.
