Cabin Fever Artist Talk Series are BACK!
January 31, 2017, Frankfort, Michigan
For the third year in a row, Oliver Art Center will be presenting its Cabin Fever Artist Talk Series in conjunction with the annual Furniture, Fiber, Photography and Sculpture Exhibition which opened January 20. Every year, four artists are invited to speak on their art work which is featured during the exhibition. “The Cabin Fever Artist Talk Series has been very well-attended so far this year and we still have two fantastic talks coming up” says Mercedes Michalowski, Executive Director.
The third talk of the series will be Nick Preneta. Nick, winner of the Gold Prize at Oliver Art Center’s 2016 Juried Exhibition, will discuss the process he takes when creating work in his Northport studio. Nick has worked with wood since a very young age and attended Northern Michigan University. He states that observation is the basis of his work. He observes the forms that wind and water create in rock, sand, wood and ice. He notices how heat stresses materials and changes their physical structure. Observation and integration of those ideas inspire the work he creates. Nick’s talk will be Friday, February 10 at 5:30pm.
All of the Cabin Fever Artist lectures are free and open to the public.
