North Central Michigan College’s Lecture Series will feature internationally-renowned neuroscientist and biological anthropologist, Dr. Helen Fisher, in the gymnasium in the Student and Community Resource Center on the Petoskey campus. This lecture is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6 p.m. Dr. Fisher’s topic will be “Is Technology Changing Love?”
Dr. Helen Fisher is a pioneer in the biology of human personality and the neurochemistry of leadership. Named a TED Talk all-star and one of “the 15 most amazing women in science today” by Business Insider, Dr. Fisher has given the world a new way to look at relationships. She is the Chief Scientific Advisor for Match.com and the co-founder and Chief Science Officer of NeuroColor, a revolutionary business consulting and training firm. A Senior Research Fellow at The Kinsey Institute and an Anthropologist at Rutgers University, Dr. Fisher is the most referenced scholar in the field of love and relationships in the world today.
Dr. Fisher will take a thorough, scientific view of current social trends and point out that the neural systems for love and attachment lie in primordial brain regions that will not change with modern texting and Internet dating.
Admission is free, but tickets are required. Tickets are available in Petoskey at the North Central Michigan College Welcome Desk in the main administrative building, in the College Library and in the College Store in the Student and Community Resource Center.
