Learn how to safely make, label and sell foods under Michigan’s Cottage Food law. Cottage Foods are those that can be safely kept at room temperature and do not require refrigeration, including jams, jellies, breads, some baked goods like cookies, cakes, fruit pies, candies, vinegars and other items. MSU Product Center Innovation Counselor Wendy Wieland, and Michelle Jarvie, MSUE Food Safety Educator, will present the business and food safety aspects of preparing and selling cottage foods at farmers markets or directly to your customers.
