Michigan Pipeline Safety Advisory Board Update
Presented by: Jennifer McKay, Policy Specialist, Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council
Pipelines are considered to be one of the safest and most efficient means of transporting commodities used to power our homes and businesses. However, they come with risks. Pipeline accidents can and do happen. The consequences of a pipeline oil spill can be disastrous when they occur in our rivers, streams, and lakes. In September 2015, Gov. Rick Snyder issued an executive order creating the Michigan Pipeline Safety Advisory Board.  The 15-member board is charged with advising state agencies on matters related to pipeline routing, construction, operation, and maintenance to ensure safety and transparency for the State’s network of pipelines.  Join Watershed Council staff, Jennifer McKay, to learn about the Pipeline Safety Advisory Board and what is being done to help protect Michigan’s water resources from pipeline spills.

No charge to attend. Limited seating available. To register for this event, please call Sandy at (231) 347-1181.
