When the founders of the Harbor Springs Area Historical Society met for the first time in 1990, creating a museum in Harbor Springs was just a dream. This year, the Historical Society is turning 25 and many of the dreams and visions of those founders have been realized. The growth and accomplishments of HSAHS through the years will be the topic of the next Harbor History Talk on Thursday, March 19.
The talk, presented by Mary Cummings, HSAHS executive director, will be held at 5:30 pm in the second floor Anton Library of the Harbor Springs History Museum. Mary will speak about the history of the organization highlighting the society’s development through the years and the dream-turned-reality of opening the Harbor Springs History Museum in 2008.
A Harbor Springs native, Mary has been with the Historical Society since she joined the Board of Trustees in 2004. She joined the Historical Society staff in 2007 and was hired as executive director in 2010. Her presentation will feature a slideshow and fun stories about the society’s past; you won’t want to miss it!
Admission to the talk is $5 for adults and free for current HSAHS members. If you are not already a member, the Historical Society encourages you to become one! You can sign up easily at the talk or online at www.harborspringshistory.org.
