Local historian Rick Wiles will share his research on the Club Manitou and the Club Ponytail when he presents “Clubbing in the Northland” on Monday, Jan 27, at 7:00 p.m. at the Carnegie Bldg., 451 E. Mitchell Street. He will take us from the era of prohibition, the stock market crash of 1929, through WW II when the Club Manitou was a place for fine dining, a speakeasy and a gambling joint. Then he will take us into the 60s when the Club was turned into a teen club with local bands and big names like the Beach Boys, Bobby Vinton, Brian Hyland and so many others caming to enter the teens of Northern Michigan. Admission is free and open tot he public.
