The Hours: Unfolding the idea of a day
The Hours of a day can represent a kind of light, a ritual, an experience, a tradition, a narrative. Nationally renowned artist Elizabeth Pollie takes the viewer not only through the hours, but through the idea of a day, from morning into the night. Each hour is represented by a painting or group of paintings, ranging from sketches to highly polished pieces. The stations of time come together to bring the viewer into the journey of the artist through the day. Components of the exhibit define the hour they represent from different perspectives. Light and shadow represent a specific time, or a daily ritual defines the hour. A painting may reference a narrative in Pollie’s life, a moment at which something happened.
Elizabeth Pollie invites the visitor to circle the room, as the earth circles the sun, and experience the day unfolding through the eyes of the artist.
This event is free and open to the public.
