Crystalaire is one of Northern Michigan’s premiere guiding and outdoor education programs, with a history in the region that goes back to 1921. We strive to make the world a better place by offering opportunities to imagine and experience new social norms and ways of living together through wilderness expeditions. We offer trips and programs for families, organizations, private groups, and youth.

This is part of our philosophically driven youth programs, which emphasize participant choice, social learning, identity-based leadership, and strong group management skills. This is an overnight, outdoor, camping based program for youth – check out our website for other opportunities or to register.

Our community service programs are all built on a service-learning model. The goal is to both aid our community of focus and learn about their lives and experiences. For this program, we will likely focus on resource use in rural society in Michigan. We’ll be in the greater Traverse area, the Upper Peninsula, or both. Service projects will vary widely, with the goal of seeing a few different angles on major social and environmental issues in the course of the program. Please bear with us as we plan the details – community service trips take longer to finalize due to the amount of people involved!
