“The Great Lakes Quilt Center: Collections History, Care, and Highlights”

Historical and Cultural Collections Specialist, Micah Ling, discusses the history of the collection, different makers and quilting families represented in the collection, researchers, preservation techniques used, and specific unique pieces from the collection.

Micah Ling is an Historical and Cultural Collections Specialist at the Michigan State University Museum. She holds Bachelors degrees in Art History & Visual Culture and Arts & Humanities from Michigan State University, as well as a specialization certificate in Museum Studies. She is also the Program Assistant for the Michigan Traditional Arts Program, which sees her conducting research and collecting fieldwork about Michigan music, dance, and material culture. Her personal research interests include old-time music, Scandinavian culture, quilts and textiles, and fashion history.
