The celebration starts with 2-mile and 10k running races at 7:30 a.m. and concludes with a giant fireworks display at 10:30 p.m. In between, there is the Grand Parade at 10 a.m. and many other activities including the Annual Waterside Arts and Crafts Show, a wacky raft race and duck race in the Boyne River (you might win $1,000!), Soapbox Derby for kids, lots of food, and children’s games. There will be live music from 1 to 7 p.m. in the park all day. The festival is centered in Veterans Memorial Park on the shore of beautiful Lake Charlevoix. Nearby Horton Bay has its own fun, offbeat parade at 1 p.m.
The craft show and children’s bouncers are held on July 3 and 4; all other events are on July 4th.
