On a foggy August night, a private plane flying from Martha’s Vineyard to New York City crashes into the ocean. Miraculously, two of the 11 passengers survive: Scott Burroughs, a struggling middle-aged artist and accomplished swimmer, and four-year-old J.J Bateman. As news of the disaster spreads, Scott is hailed as a hero. The National Transportation Safety Board questions him with respect, but then a hostile FBI agent sniffs terrorism and suggests that Scott might have somehow caused the crash. Rich with a compelling narrative, suspenseful plot twists, and engaging characters, this novel by award-winning producer and screenwriter Noah Hawley has been acquired by Sony Pictures.
