Bike-In TC is proud to present Stanley Kubrick’s classic thriller, The Shining, Friday, October 18 on the lawn at The Village at Grand Traverse Commons. Grab your bike, grab your friends, and pedal your way to The Village for an outdoor screening of Kubrick’s legendary tale of Jack Torrance and the Overlook Hotel, based on the novel by Stephen King. A portable chair or blanket is suggested for comfort, and an FM radio is recommended for audio. The film will be screened on a temporary outdoor screen among the tall pines beginning at dusk.
Initial reviews were mixed after The Shining’s release in 1980, but critical assessment became more favorable over time, and the film, starring Jack Nicholson, is now considered by many to be one of the greatest horror films of all time. Bike-In TC is excited to kick off the Halloween season in classic fashion among the tall trees on the lawn at The Village.
Admission to the October 18 screening of The Shining is free, as are all films presented by Bike-In TC. Donations in support of this and future films are accepted and appreciated.
