Chip-chip-che-way-o! This is the song of the endangered Kirtland’s Warbler. The song skips on the breeze. The birds live in the jack pine forests of Michigan, Wisconsin and Ontario. Every fall they fly 1,500 miles to the Bahamas. Every spring, they come back. But their trip isn’t the most dangerous part of their lives. Their forest needs fire to renew. How can the birds survive?
