The Ales by the Rails Oktoberfest is family oriented, with planned activities, including; a kid’s fun zone & bounce houses, train memorabilia, pumpkin painting and much more! The Filling Station Microbrewery will also be unveiling their life-size human foosball court.
All weekend, adults may enjoy the bountiful selection of 14 Filling Station Microbrewery craft brews, a flavorful selection of Northwood’s Sodas, along with delicious flatbread pizzas baked to perfection in a wood-fired oven. In addition, to their award-winning flatbread pizzas, the Filling Station also plans to offer traditional brats and sauerkraut. Other Oktoberfest style food will also be available.
On Friday, October 17th, doors will open at 5 pm, with live music kicking off at 6pm with The Way Down Wanderers from Central Illinois. The Way Down Wanderes are an equal parts fast-paced and soulful, 5-piece Roots/Americana band. They made their first appearance to the Northern Michigan scene at this year’s Hoxeyville Music Festival. Following their set, attendees will enjoy a performance by Michigan’s “Celtic Jamgrass Champions,” Rootstand from Ann Arbor, MI. The band celebrated their 10th Anniversary of Rootenanny, one of Michigan’s favorite music festivals, this summer. Rootstand will be energizing the stage at8:30pm.
On Saturday, doors will open at 4pm. Taking the stage first will be local family polka band, Box On. The 10 member family band from Interlochen plays a variety of standards from swing, rock, country to polkas and Latin music. Box On will be followed at 8:30pm by the headliner for the night is Denver, Colorado bluegrass band, Mountain Standard Time (MST). MST brands its own style of “Rocky Mountain FreeGrass,” with elements of Bluegrass, Prog Rock, Latin and Americana. MST has made appearances at Wakarusa Music Festival, 10,000 Lakes Festival, Summer Camp Music Festival, and NedFest, among many others.
Ticket prices: Full weekend pass $35 (plus $3 fee). Friday $20 (plus $2 fee); Saturday $20 (plus $2 fee).
Friday & Saturday at the door will be $25.
