Saturday, September 17th at 1:00 pm. Hatlem Creek Preserve, Leelanau Conservancy

This is an annual walk in search of fall flowers with special focus on the different species of Goldenrod. Goldenrod is one of our most colorful native autumn flowers. The Ojibwa natives called it gizisomukiki or ‘sun medicine’ for its beautiful yellow color and healing power. The Latin term is Solidago meaning ‘to make whole’. Join Conservancy docent Lou Ricord and Sharon Oriel on a trek to locate and catalog the many species of Goldenrod and other wildflowers at one of the Conservancy’s newest preserves. Please note: with all the rain lately parts of the trail are very wet. Please wear water proof shoes/boots. Reminder: no dogs on docent-led walks.
