The Traverse City Track Club announces the 24th Annual Remembrance Run, with the event set to go on October 7 at the Timber Ridge Resort in Traverse City.

The Remembrance Run is a 5K (3.1 miles) and 1 Mile trail run/fitness walk along the forest trails at Timber Ridge Resort and the Pere Marquette State Forest. In addition, the event includes a Silent Auction to support the Munson Healthcare Foundation’s Women’s Cancer Fund.

Online registration is open now and closes Friday, October 6 at noon. Those wishing to register late may do so in person on Thursday, October 5 from 4–7 p.m. at event sponsor Benjamin Twiggs in Traverse City, or on race day at the event site. Benjamin Twiggs supports the event, by donating 15% of its sales during packet pick-up October 5 to the Women’s Cancer Fund. Participants may also donate to the fund or actively assist with a fundraising program, with details available at the sign-up link above.

The 5K run and 1 Mile walk begin at 9 a.m., followed by the Silent Auction event immediately after which featured items from Traverse City-area businesses donated in support of the Women’s Cancer Fund.

All run and walk finishers will enjoy post-event refreshments and will receive a souvenir award event shirt—a custom designed long sleeve technical women’s shirt. The event is participant-timed with a large display digital clock and is an accurately measured 5K and 1-mile distance.

Since 1998, the event has supported the Women’s Cancer Fund, created by TCTC volunteers and the Munson Healthcare Foundation, to support women who are being treated for cancer to provide funds for essential needs not covered by health insurance such as wigs, gas cards, and payment of utility bills when treatment prohibits time at works. To date, through the Remembrance Run, the Women’s Cancer Fund has received over $250,000 in donations. One hundred percent of the Remembrance Run Silent Auction proceeds are deposited directly into the fund.

Participants interested in raising additional funds through a pledge program may do so during registration for the event at the RunSignup event link.
