Sponsored by DTE Energy, the 2nd Annual Headwaters Music Festival will be held August 26 from 4–10:30 p.m. at the Otsego Club & Resort under the giant tent with a million dollar view in Gaylord. Rock and roll legend Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels will be the headlining the event. This celebration of music covers all genres including a performance by the folk band Crane Wives and several other local musicians.

The Otsego Club will have food and beverages for sale during the event, including craft beer and wine. Local arts and crafts vendors will also have booths set up.

Tickets are $30 each prior to the event, or $40 at the gate. Kids 12 and under get in free (when accompanied by an adult). Get your tickets for the fun-filled evening of music near the headwaters of Northern Michigan’s pristine rivers and streams at MyNorthTickets.com.

Michigan native, Mitch Ryder, was chosen as this year’s headliner because of his influence on rock and roll as well as rhythm and blues—he was inducted into the Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame in June. He has never stopped creating and is currently writing a musical “Hide Your Love Away.”

Also featured at this year’s concert will be the Grand Rapids based group The Crane Wives. The four-piece Americana/folk band recently received first place in JBL Professional’s “Best American Band Contest.” Members Emilee Petersmark (guitar/vocals), Kate Pillsbury (guitar/vocals), Dan Rickabus (drums/vocals) and Ben Zito (bass) uses three-part harmonies, eclectic instrumentation and a passion for songcraft to create organic music that is both accessible and innovative.

The Headwaters Music Festival is hosted by the Gaylord Area Council for the Arts. The event was created as a way to draw visitors to this region and share the beauty and diversity of this part of Michigan. Financial support for this festival comes from DTE Energy, the Northeast Michigan Council of Governments, Bayside Beverage, the Gaylord Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and Mark Nearing, DDS.
