The Annual Carter’s Kids Golf, Dinner and Concert event will return to Lochenheath Golf Course on Friday, August 4. This year we are welcoming a gathering of HGTV and DIY network hosts including Chris Grundy from Cool Tools and DIY Dominator and Matt Muenster from DIY Bath Crashers and the BATHtastic series. Also, we are welcoming local Food Network and Traverse City champion Mario Batali.

This annual event has had musicians from G Love to Matt Kearney and Martin Sexton perform at the intimate setting, and this year we are going big with a top alternative rock indietronica band from Australia, Atlas Genius. Atlas Genius has a sound driven by their influences including The Police, The Beatles, Death Cab for Cutie and Beck and now has millions of fans and YouTube likes. Grand Rapids artists Vox Vidorra will open the show with their Irish indie/soul combining sounds of Motown and jazz.

Carter’s Kids was founded in 2006 by Traverse City native, Carter Oosterhouse. Carter was born and raised on Old Mission Peninsula and graduated from Traverse City St. Francis High School and Central Michigan University. Carter moved to Los Angeles following graduation and has created a successful career hosting many television shows such as Trading Spaces, Three Wishes, Carter Can and Million Dollar Rooms. He’s the current host of the hit ABC television show, The Great American Light Fight. In 2011, Carter married actress Amy Smart, who has starred in movies such as Road Trip, The Butterfly Effect, Just Friends and many more (see the wedding photos!). Carter and Amy maintain a vacation home on Old Mission Peninsula and are owners of Bonobo Winery.

Together, Carter and Amy have led the way in completing over 60 playgrounds in communities all over the United States. Carter’s Kids has also completed eight playgrounds in Michigan and has reached an agreement with the State of Michigan to build playgrounds in State Park locations in the future, including four in 2017.

The 7th Annual Carter’s Kids Charity Golf Event at Lochenheath Golf Club features golf, a cocktail party, dinner, silent auction and an after party complete with music and dancing. The past several years we have been able to completely sell out the golf foursomes and typically have an attendance of between 350–400 event guests.

A VERY limited number of this year’s tickets go on sale for seeing Atlas Genius for $35 on Friday, July 14th at 11 a.m. Show time is 8 p.m. on Friday, August 4. If interested in putting a golf team together or attending the cocktail hour and dinner please visit www.carters-kids.org for tickets and information.
