TRAVERSE CITY: Crooked Tree Arts Center has announced the launch of its new mobile app, the Art & Craft Trails Guide. Available for Apple iPhone/iPad and Android devices, the free Art & Craft Trails app is a guide to art galleries, studios and events in northern lower Michigan.

The mobile app is the electronic companion to the Art & Craft Trails print brochure, which has been published annually since 1975. This year, over 40,000 Art & Craft Trails booklets will be distributed throughout Michigan and will be available at locations including MDOT Welcome Centers, chambers of commerce, hotels, restaurants, art galleries and more.

Mobile app users can explore by county, get driving directions and connect with artists and galleries via social media.

The app currently includes Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Mackinac, Manistee, Missaukee and Otsego counties. A calendar of art fairs and other visual arts events is also included.

“We want to promote Northern Michigan as a destination for arts and culture, and to connect people who love art with artists and galleries,” says Megan Kelto, associate director of Crooked Tree Arts Center – Traverse City. “The print booklet is a wonderful resource, with an updated format for 2017. And the new mobile app is very user-friendly, and offers turn-by-turn navigation to nearly 90 locations.”

The Art & Craft Trails mobile app is available for free in the Apple App Store, Google Play, and at www.crookedtree.org/app. Artists and organizations can email tc@crookedtree.org for information about listing their locations in the Art & Craft Trails guide.
