One of Northern Michigan’s favorite Memorial Day Weekend traditions enters its second decade on Saturday, May 27th as brewers and craft beer lovers once again gather slopeside at Crystal Mountain for the 12th Annual Michigan Beer & Brat Festival from 4 to 8 p.m. (VIP event begins at 3 p.m.)
The celebration attracts dozens of breweries from across the state and thousands of craft beer aficionados to the base of Crystal Mountain’s slopes. More than two dozen brats from local markets will be available as will more than 75 of Michigan’s finest craft beers. Scarkasm (3 to 5 p.m. – Modern Rock) will open for Lookin’ Back (Bob Seger Tribute Band) who takes the stage at the Clipper Chairlift from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Tickets are available online including $25 Early Bird tickets for the first time this year that includes five tokens and a commemorative glass. Get your tickets early and save! Those are available until the end of this month, back again this year is a limited quantity of 300 that allow access to a special VIP hour from 3 to 4 p.m. Cost is $60 (advanced online registration required) to enter an hour before the general public and includes 10 tokens and a commemorative glass. General admission is $30 ($35 day of the event) and includes five tokens and a commemorative glass. Additional tokens will be available during the event for $2 each, good toward a beer or brat.

Tesla and the Twin Bay British Car Club will be present at this year’s festival, beginning at 3 p.m. and have cars on display into the evening. Don’t have a babysitter? No worries! Crystal Mountain’s Camp & Crafts program will entertain your child while you Beer and Brat! This childcare program is open to children ages 12 and under. Camp and Crafts program includes age appropriate crafts and games as well as a dinner of hot dogs, chips and watermelon. Cost is $39/child with a $5 multiple child discount (from 4-8 p.m.). Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial start to summer which means it’s opening weekend for Crystal’s most popular attractions. The Park at Water’s Edge, adventure course, climbing wall and Crystal Coaster Alpine Slide will be open. Those who like to mix a few birdies in with their beers and brats can take part in The Crystal Cup, May 27–29. Participants in this Ryder Cup-style format play four-ball matches on Saturday and singles matches on Sunday. Each receives a team shirt and hat as well as receptions on Friday night and Sunday (following the final round) plus admission to the Michigan Beer & Brat Festival.
