Happy 100th, United States Coast Guard and America’s National Parks!

In celebration of the coinciding centennials, the Traverse City Coast Guard flew the MyNorth video crew over Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore via helicopter to share the sites with you. Enjoy these birds-eye views of sandy dunes, the Manitou Islands, Northern Michigan lakes, vistas, and shipwrecks. There’s enough National Parks eye candy for everyone.

A special thanks goes out to the Traverse City Coast Guard for taking us up in one of their helicopters, outfitted with an official centennial celebration sticker. Pilot and public affairs officer Lt. Katherine Pelkey shares, “The Coast Guard centennial is celebrating 100 years of Coast Guard aircraft and aircrew flying helicopters and planes and rescuing people. And it’s just a celebration of our history, a celebration of men and women that have done it in the past, and looking forward to another hundred years of doing it.”
