Happy 90th birthday, Ironton Ferry! The short, sweet ride across the narrows of the South Arm of Lake Charlevoix has been a Northern Michigan tradition since 1876 when the ferry was originally operated with hand cables and the help of passengers. Today, we celebrate the new ferry, built in 1926 with an engine that can complete the 610-foot ride in three minutes.

Watch as the ferry takes a trip across Lake Charlevoix in this video.

The ferry operates daily mid-April through mid-November from  6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Find it on M-66 four miles south of Charlevoix.

Fare Information:
$3 per car
$0.50 per person (w/out vehicle or bicycle)
$1 per person with bicycle
A book of 20 tickets can be purchased for $40.00 at the Ferry or the County Treasurer’s Office.
