Mt. Holiday in Traverse City is offering a new program to local youth who want to develop their skills in the terrain park. The program, Flight School, starts January 22 and will be held every Friday through February 12. Lessons are open to skiers and snowboarders who can already ride a chair lift, turn, stop and transition smoothly.

“It’s about creating and developing those fundamentals skills in the terrain park,” says Natalie Myers of Mt. Holiday. “The lessons give kids a chance to work on something specific that they want to learn. They get to form their own lesson plan and work one-on-one and in small groups with an instructor to safely learn tricks and techniques.”

The lessons go from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. each Friday and are followed by free skiing until 9 p.m. A fee of $139 per person includes four Flight School lessons and skiing afterward. If you need equipment and helmet rental, the fee is $159 per person.

“Flight School offers a safe environment to fall and learn and get picked back up,” Natalie says.
