TRAVERSE CITY: The sixth annual Traverse City Children’s Book Festival will take place in downtown Traverse City at the City Opera House on Saturday, November 14, 2015. Hosted by publishing services company Jenkins Group, the Traverse City book event promotes literacy by celebrating books and learning with a jam-packed day of free activities, crafts, performances, and contests for children of every age. Story artist Jenifer Strauss of Let a Story Be Told will once again captivate visitors with her exciting performance, while publishers, authors, and illustrators will display their award-winning books.

Each year, the festival showcases winning books from the Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards, featuring them throughout the festival and at a medal ceremony that evening at the Park Place Hotel. Exhibitors from as far as California, Colorado, Montana, and even Dominican Republic will be on hand at the festival to share their love of reading and their incredible books with attendees. “The Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards and the Children’s Book Festival seek to encourage the enriching role books play in children’s lives,” says Jerry Jenkins, founder of Jenkins Group. “Embracing literature is fun, but also essential in school and into adulthood.”

Back by popular demand: TCCBF and TBA Credit Union have once again partnered to provide attendees of all ages with Book Bucks, which are handed out free of charge and can be used towards book purchases at the festival. Book Bucks will be handed out while supplies last.

The festival takes place on November 14th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the historic City Opera House in the heart of downtown Traverse City. All ages are welcome and admission to the event is free. All proceeds from exhibitor spaces will benefit the Grand Traverse Area Literacy Council and the Read Aloud organization.
