Traverse City, MI (November 25, 2015)—MyNorth Media, producer of the Northern Home & Cottage Home Tours in Petoskey and Traverse City, Michigan, announces today a donation of $14,045.93 to Child & Family Services of Northwestern Michigan. Between the two tours, 21 homeowners participated. MyNorthTickets.com and other locations sold more than 1,200 tickets, generating the funds supporting the donation. Child & Family Services offers families support in times of crisis, challenge and life transitions.

“These 21 homeowners opened their homes for Northern Michigan’s children,” says Deborah Wyatt Fellows, founder of Traverse, Northern Michigan’s Magazine and CEO of MyNorth Media. “We are delighted to kick off this season of giving with a donation that helps Northern Michigan families. ”

MyNorth Media, through its publication Northern Home & Cottage, has been producing home and kitchen tours in Northern Michigan since 2008. In recent years, Child & Family Services has supported the Northern Home & Cottage tours by providing volunteers to help staff the tour.

The Traverse City area tour took place on Saturday, September 19 with a dozen homes. Homes ranged from Northport at the tip of the Leelanau peninsula to Empire, to Traverse City including Old Mission peninsula and east to Skegemog Lake. The Petoskey area tour, a new tour for Northern Home & Cottage, took place on October 10th and included nine homes from Walloon Lake to Harbor Springs and Crooked Lake in Alanson.

“Participating in the tour is often initiated by a builder, architect or designer interested in showing off a successfully designed and built home. Each home is chosen for its distinctive style and innovative lifestyle concept,” says Elizabeth Edwards, managing editor of Northern Home & Cottage. “Homes range in style, size and location, showing off the wide range of options for living in Northern Michigan to people considering new construction or a remodel.”

Northern Home & Cottage is already making plans for two more tours in 2016, in Traverse City in September and in Petoskey in October.

“We are so grateful for the generosity of our homeowners and our region,” says Fellows. “And honored that all the hard work of producing these tours successfully provides such a formidable donation for Northern Michigan families in time for the season of giving, when many families need extra support.”
