This Fourth of July try some of our favorite Northern Michigan cocktail recipes courtesy of Northern Latitudes Distillery in Lake Leelanau. Northern Latitudes claimed four of 10 spots on our Red Hot Best List in 2015 for Locally Distilled Spirits with their Apollo Horseradish Vodka, Limoncello Di Leelanau, Jack Pine Gin and Mackinac Island Fudge Liqueur.


Blueberry Rum Collins

12 blueberries

2 oz Manitou Passage Rum

1 oz lemon juice

1 oz simple syrup

Club soda

Muddle 8 blueberries in a glass then add ice. Add the other ingredients, top off with club soda and garnish with blueberries on top.

 

Strawberry Daiquiri

2 oz Manitou Passage Rum

5 strawberries

1 lime

1 oz simple syrup

Muddle 4 strawberries with simple syrup in a shaker. Add ice, rum and juice of 1 lime. Shake. Pour into a cocktail glass and garnish with a strawberry.

 

Blueberry Mojito

2 oz Manitou Passage Rum

2 good-sized sprigs of mint

2 lime wedges

10 blueberries

3/4 oz simple syrup

Club soda

Muddle mint (save 3 leaves for garnish), lime wedges, 5-7 blueberries along with simple syrup in a collins glass. Add ice, rum, top off with club soda and garnish with rest of the mint and blueberries.

 

Pina Colada (for you and a few friends)

2 oz Manitou Passage Rum

1 can Coco Lopez Cream of Coconut

Pineapple juice

Ice

Pour a can of Coco Lopez Cream of Coconut into a blender. Then fill that can with pineapple juice, add to blender and mix the two together. Put ice, rum and the coconut mixture into a shaker. Shake, pour into a cocktail glass and garnish with a cherry.
