Located just 12 miles east of downtown Traverse City, the G.T. Butterfly House & Bug Zoo is a wellspring of natural wonder for nature lovers and explorers of all ages. Having overcome the unforeseen and devastating incident of installing feeder plants treated with neonicotinoids—a toxic and deadly pesticide known to kill a variety of insects and butterflies—owners Rob Roach and Cyndie Bobier are counting their blessings thanks to the outpouring of community support that helped them reinstall pesticide-free plants the butterflies can now safely feed on. After much hard work, the staff is looking ahead to a spectacular season! The G.T. Butterfly House & Bug Zoo establishes a new dimension for community education and engagement in Northern Michigan.

For an adventurous experience the whole family can enjoy, head out to the G.T. Butterly House & Bug Zoo where you can revel in a beautiful garden home to various species of brilliant butterflies, and witness them emerging from delicate chrysalises. Kids will get a big kick out of exploring the Bug Zoo—home to insects from around the world like the Tanzanian Whip Spider and the Vietnamese Centipede. Visitors will also enjoy observing dancing bees in the Observation Hive while learning about the inner-workings of the Honeybee’s world. Tap into the curious and magical world of G.T Butterfly House & Bug Zoo!

Admission is $9 per adult and $6 for children ages 4 to 12 years old. Toddlers 3 and under are admitted free.
