PETOSKEY: The Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra announces its forthcoming jazz concert entitled “Jazzed Up.” The concert is scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 7 p.m. and will be held at the Petoskey Middle School located at 801 Northmen Drive. There will be a pre-concert talk given by conductor and music director, Libor Ondras, starting at 6:15 p.m.

Jazz takes center stage with works that Music Director, Libor Ondras, has chosen, including Stravinsky’s Ragtime for 11 Instruments, Gershwin’s Lullaby for Strings, and tributes to Copland and “Duke” Ellington. Under the direction of Patrick Ryan, the Petoskey High School Jazz Band will perform the Ellington tribute with the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra.

The finale is a show stopper! In a truly brilliant arrangement of “Duke” Ellington’s work, solos are passed around the orchestra and everyone swings! So, put on your dancing shoes and come out of the cold for hot jazz and a super cool evening.

Tickets are available at MyNorthTickets.com, area chambers of commerce including Petoskey, Charlevoix, Boyne City, Harbor Springs and East Jordan, online at MyNorthTickets.com or by calling the orchestra office at 231.487.0010.
