Jeffrey Cobb, Director of Music Programs at Northwestern Michigan College leads a music filled life. With more than 25 years of conducting under his belt, he currently conducts and is the artistic director for the children’s choirs at NMC, Ragazzo and Cantus, the adult groups, Grand Traverse Chorale, Chamber Singers and Canticum Novum, and he’s also the Director of Music at Central United Methodist Church.

He says that his favorite part about conducting is working with “such fantastic people.” “I am so lucky to have the opportunity to make incredible music every day with singers who are passionate and dedicated to creating music that is moving and artistic.”

Jeff conducts singers ranging from ages 9-90, but the children’s choirs are made up of two different age groups, Ragazzo is 5th-7th grade and Cantus is 6-9th grade. On Sunday, February 15, 2015 the NMC Children’s Choir and the NMC Choirs are putting on a show together at Lars Hockstad in Traverse City. Jeff promises “some really cool repertoire – come check it out!”

He is hopeful that audience members will leave this concert “moved and inspired by the music they’ve heard.”

“With our upcoming concert – a concert that combines our Children’s Choirs and two of our adult groups – I hope that the audience, and our young singers, realize that singing is something you can do your whole life,” Jeff says.

“I also hope our audience, when they see 300+ NMC singers on stage, realize what an asset the NMC Music Department is to the community!”

This Sunday’s concert is sold out, but keep an eye on MyNorthTickets for a list of upcoming concerts.
