Northern Michigan Fall Style

If you were looking for an excuse to update your wardrobe for fall, here it is. We’ve compiled a list of some great pieces from five stores in Northern Michigan that are hot items this autumn (and as a bonus most also transition nicely into winter). This might be the next best thing that happens to you this fall (besides cider and donuts!)

Cali’s in Traverse City

This cute ensemble pulls a lot of fall elements together. A trending item this fall has been the jacket from Mystree. Cali’s sales associate Becky said that the sweater sleeve and leather combined with the faux fur collar has been a very hot fall item.Cali's

  • Jacket: Mystree,$77
  • Shirt: Mystree, $53
  • Shoes: Bedistu Cobbler Series, $205
  • Plaid Leggings: Alternative, $45
  • Socks: Hue Bootique, 3 for $18

Ella’s in Traverse City

When it gets chillier, Ella’s recommends a cozy cashmere sweater by Velvet and a pair of dark wash jeans (they have got a lot of styles and colors from AG and Citizens of Humanity). For the guy in your life, they now carry Ted Baker shirts which can be paired with a fun colored chino that will bring some color to autumn. As always they’ve got a variety of styles and sizes of Frye boots for women and men.

Golden Shoes in Traverse City

Golden’s has a great selection of fall boots and shoes but the biggest seller is definitely SORELs. They have had quite a face-lift over the last couple of years and what used to be sort of clunky is now funky. They are so popular that sometimes they are already spoken for by the time that they are in stock, says Bill Golden. If you aren’t in the market for SORELs check out other popular sellers including Rieker boots and shoes and Pikolinos. Looking for a pop of color? There are also quite a few options in the store for red or teal shoes.

Robert Frost in Traverse City & Petoskey

Robert Frost owner, Joe Frost highlighted a few trendy items he has sold for fall that also transition into winter. The Juno boot by Eric Michael is one of those. “It transitions nicely to winter and it has warmth too,” he said. They come in a couple of colors including grey, brown and black.

He also said that his Alp-N-Rock items for women “standout but are still Northern Michigan unique.” As a bonus this clothing line is 100% US made.

Robert Frost also offers quite a few options for men from shoes to apparel. One shoe company, Johnston and Murphy offers a special deal that they are running through October. Guys can buy a pair of shoes and wear them for ten days. Then at the end of those ten days if they don’t like the shoes, Johnston and Murphy allows a full refund (through the end of October.)

V2V in Petoskey

This store in downtown Petoskey has items for the home, apparel, accessories and beauty products. A low cut boot like the Franco Sarto Haverly is trendy, cute and easy to pair with just about anything! Dress them up or dress them down – it’s up to you. There are also plenty of cozy sweaters, scented candles and more!
