Downtown Traverse City will be hosting the Annual Downtown Art Walk on Friday September 12, 2014 from 5-9 pm.

The Downtown Art Walk is a local favorite and will showcase 25 art exhibits throughout Downtown Traverse City. The public is invited to enjoy an evening of art, refreshments, food and music on a self guided tour throughout Downtown Traverse City.

Locations will begin in the Old Town District, through the Front St. District and then end on Downtown’s West End. Artists from the Grand Traverse region and beyond will be present to feature their works.

The Downtown Traverse City Association recently collaborated with the Traverse City ArtCenter to create “Art in the City.” A Plein Air paint out event took place on Saturday, August 16 in Downtown Traverse City. Over a dozen artists will feature their finished works at the City Opera House during the evening. Street art was also created on large 5 ‘ x 11’ canvases at the August 15 Friday Night Live. The works of art are now hung for public display on the side of the Zimco building on the 300 block of E. Front Street.

“We are excited to continue our efforts toward promoting the arts and all the talent that we have here in the Grand Traverse Community,” says Colleen Paveglio, DDA Marketing & Deputy Director.

Refreshments will be offered at various locations throughout the evening. Purchase a commemorative wine glass and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Downtown Public Art Fund. Participating galleries will also be offering prize drawings throughout the evening. Walking maps will be available at each participating gallery and the Downtown Traverse City office. The Annual Downtown Art Walk is provided by the over 200 merchants, restaurants and businesses who are members of the Downtown Traverse City Association.
