Peter Pan Jr. at the Old Town Playhouse — July 18th & 19th

For two nights only, witness the product of the hard work put in by campers enrolled in Old Town Playhouse’s 4-week Performing Arts Camp in Traverse City. It’s Peter Pan Jr! This modern retelling of the classic Disney film and J.M. Barrie’s epic play will be sure to captivate, with Peter whisking you and your family away to Never Land to cavort with the Lost Boys, Mermaids, Indians, and of course the infamous Captain Hook! Traverse City Roller Derby Double Header — July 26th

This has got to be one of the best values for seeing a roller derby event in the history of… ever. Adult tickets are only $10, and children 10 and under are free! Watch the Toxic Cherries head off against the Glass City Rollers of Sylvania, Ohio, and right after see the thrilling bout between the Cherry Bombs and the Barry County Black Heart Maidens. Southside Festival Series — Various dates in July, August, and September

Music and BBQ, what could possibly be a better combination? The Southside Festival Grounds, located in Buckley off M37, is offering a summer concert series from July through September. Featured genres include blues, jazz, country, and even an all Elvis event! All concerts have reduced prices for children and family ticket packages. Introduce your kids to some sonic culture while simultaneously stuffing your face.

101 Dalmatians Kids at the Old Town Playhouse — August 16th & 23rd

Following the one week intensive drama camp, see the campers’ production of 101 Dalmatians reinterpreted through a musical lens. With all the zeal of the original, see Pongo and Perdita journey to save their pups from the devious Cruella De Vil and foil her plan to turn them into a new fur coat! Heartwarming and hilarious, this contemporary adaptation will please parents and kids alike.
