Attention Northern Michigan boat lovers: this event is for you. On Wednesday, June 25th, at 6 pm, the Harbor Springs Area Historical Society will launch the boating season with the Second Annual Blessing of the Fleet. Have your boat or watercraft blessed by special guest, Admiral Robert J. Papp, Jr., a recently retired Commandant of the United States Coast Guard. They’ll give their blessing of the fleet onboard the historic Canim, a 96-foot yacht built in 1929. This event is open to the public, so even if you’re not a boat owner, feel free to check it out!

Following the Blessing of the Fleet, there will be a Summer White Party at the Boathouse, at 105 W. Bay Street in Harbor Springs. Beginning at 7 pm, this elegant party features a strolling supper prepared by Julienne Tomatoes, complemented with local wines by Harbor Springs Vineyards and Winery and local beer by Petoskey Brewing.

Mitchiepoo Girtski, We are sorry. You wanted to participate in the
Habor Springs Blessing of the Boats and our post went up on the 25th
when the event was the 26th. To make matters more frustrating, all the
buy ticket links pointed to pages that were turned off on that day. We
are sorry. We’ll make a note to make sure to say that the location of
the box office is at the marina for next time. (Sometimes the event
promoters ask us to turn off the online ticketing on the day of the
event because they won’t be able to look things up on the computer that
day.) We messed up this party. Is there some way we can make sure you
hear about the next one?

Your reply says it all. There is obviously nothing you can do to satisfy me. 14 days to reply…
We’re working on that too …
I do have a boat, I like to go to parties, I read the article today… THE DAY OF THE EVENT! Nice reporting MyNorth! You waited till the day of, wow! Here’s the kicker, you have a link to buy tickets but they are dead links, the tell the reader to buy tickets at the “box office” but failed to mention where the box office is or what the hours are! Again nice reporting and typical for most of the people who call themselves journalists here in Northern Michigan, ignoring the most important and basic information, the who, where, when and how of a story.
