There are too few times in life when you have the opportunity to raise a flute filled with delicious bubbly and celebrate the flavors of spring…five times over. In Traverse City on May 14th, you’ll have plate-loads of reason to go with the flow, each one paired with an artfully crafted sparkling wine at a Northern Michigan event celebrating the area’s local food scene: the Farmer Fizz dinner.
What more could be cause for an impromptu celebration? Invite your loved ones to share this unforgettable evening at Towne Plaza where you’ll have the chance to raise a glass with all-star Sommelier, Greg Castells, president of the prestigious import firm, Martine’s Wines, and former Chief Sommelier of The French Laundry, America’s most iconic eatery. Greg will present each pour with a bit about the history and culture behind the bubbly.
Romance or laughter, you’ll enjoy it over a light-bright spring menu
designed by Chef Chris Hoffman. The feast will kick off with a french favorite, sauteed escargot in white wine, leek, garlic and butter. Signature spring ingredients take center stage during the second course when you’ll revel in a haricot vert & asparagus salad tossed with pancetta, almonds and lemon vinaigrette. As the evening progresses your taste buds will rejoice with seared to juicy-perfection jumbo sea scallops and then pheasant breast roulade rolled with foie gras and topped with truffle jus. Don’t be surprised if you’re speaking french by the end of Farmer Fizz. Michigan won’t hold it against you because the featured ingredient in the ‘cheese heart,’ coeur a la creme, couldn’t be creamier or closer to home. Leelanau fromage blanc bedazzled with fresh berries and accompanied by chambord will send you home singing.
