With green grass replacing white snow across Northern Michigan’s outdoors, Grand Traverse Resort golf is finally teeing off with several events and openings. 

The Grand Traverse Resort and Spa near Traverse City will open its ‘Spruce Run’ golf course for the 2014 season on Tuesday, April 22nd. Gary Player’s ‘The Wolverine’ will open on Thursday, April 24th, and ‘The Bear’—designed by Jack Nicklaus—will open on Friday, April 25th.

The Resort’s Golf Academy—under the direction of six-time Michigan Open Champion Scott Hebert—remains open for instruction and practice time with winter hours  (Tuesday-Friday: 10 am to 8 pm., Saturday: 8 am to 6 pm, Sunday: 10 am to 4 pm) through April 19, and then will transition to spring and summer hours, which will be announced later.

In addition, the Resort’s Golf Academy will host a TaylorMade Demo Day on Saturday, April 19th, 11 am to 3 pm with 15-minute fitting sessions. Representatives from TaylorMade will be on hand with the latest golf equipment.

Grand Traverse Resort and Spa is again the site of the annual Traverse City Central Tee-Off Invitational Tournament, scheduled to be played on Spruce Run and The Wolverine on April 25th and 26th – both courses, both days.  High School Boys Golf Teams from several Northern Michigan districts and from around the state will compete.
