Traverse City West High School Music Department will present its annual student musical production starting Friday, February 28th and running through Sunday, March 16th.  This year’s musical is Thoroughly Modern Millie, which tells the tale of a young Midwestern girl, Millie, who travels to New York in the 1920’s.  Her motivation for relocating to New York is rather suspect: Millie wants to marry into money, and, upon her arrival, quickly inserts herself into the vibrant culture of Prohibition-era New York.  Featuring a cast of outrageous characters and playful songs, Thoroughly Modern Millie is an entertaining, fast-paced production fit for the whole family.

Traverse City West’s Music Department has garnered a well-earned reputation as a launchpad for young talent in the area, with students going on to study music and musical theater at universities across the country.  Alumni of these programs have gone on to perform nationally, with gigs at Chicago’s Blue Man Group and New York’s Steps Ensemble among those landed by former students.

The production of Thoroughly Modern Millie is split into two casts, with the Gold Cast beginning the run on Saturday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m.  Get your tickets here to find out if Millie finds love in New York City!
