Northern Michigan Food & Wine: Each year Wine Spectator combs through the world's top institutions of culinary and vinology perfection. This year, we raise our glasses to the team at The Rowe Inn.
In order to qualify in Wine Spectator's Restaurant Wine List, dining destinations must offer a wine list that meets a standard of criteria. In short, this includes: 1) accurate, complete wine information, 2) vintages and appellations for all selections and 3) complete producer names and correct spellings. Should establishments meet these basic requirements, their wine lists are then judged for one of three awards: Award of Excellence, Best Award of Excellence or Grand Award.
This year only ten Michigan eateries received the Wine Spectator Best Award of Excellence. And of these ten, The Rowe Inn of Ellsworth stands alone representing Northern Michigan. 3,793 restaurants are awarded but only 850 take home this particular title. Wes Westhoven, Wine Director of The Rowe Inn proudly serves a selection of 700 wines with strengths in Bordeaux, Rhone and California vintages.
Check out the list for yourself here and visit The Rowe Inn at 6303 East Jordan Road, Ellsworth, Michigan 49729. Congratulations and cheers to The Rowe Inn!
