Traverse City Microbrews: “Two trails diverged, and I…I took the one with great beer.” That’s the slogan of the new Traverse City Ale Trail (TC Ale Trail), just launched July 5th at the Ales by the Rails Summer Music Festival at the Filling Station Microbrewery. The TC Ale Trail will be a fun and rewarding way to experience Traverse City’s booming craft beer scene.
How does it work? First, pickup a TC Ale Trail Passport—complete with stamp pad, information on local breweries, and a helpful map—at any of the eight participating breweries, the Visitors Center or many area hotels. Then, while visiting each of the featured Traverse City breweries, collect a unique stamp with any purchase. Once passports are completely stamped from each of the eight breweries, return it to The Filling Station Microbrewery and receive a FREE commemorative silicone pint glass – a Silipint. For extra credit, collect a ninth stamp at Grand Traverse Distillery and receive a bonus prize!
There is no cost to participate in the TC Ale Trail. The passport is free – the prize is free. All for just drinking delicious local beer!
Currently there are eight microbreweries participating in the TC Ale Trail including North Peak, The Workshop, Brewery Ferment, Beggars Brewery, Right Brain, The Filling Station, Jolly Pumpkin, and Mackinaw Brewing Co. The ninth bonus stamp for extra credit is Grand Traverse Distillery.
“We hope to bolster Traverse City’s beer scene as a whole,” says Troy Daily, of Daily Medias, the company behind the TC Ale Trail. “The Ale Trail will benefit each brewery equally while providing a fun and worthwhile challenge to local beer-lovers or visitors. There are so many great breweries here in Traverse – new and established – and the TC Ale Trail makes it easy to find each one,” Daily adds.
TC Ale Trail has also partnered with 231 Commerce to provide an informational mobile app allowing beer trekkers to get directions, check in, tweet their whereabouts and much more. Check it out on a mobile device at 231TheGuide.com
