Northern Michigan Event: Lakeside Shakespeare Theatre's Free Workshops

Northern Michigan Events: Frankfort's Oliver Art Center presents an afternoon of workshops plus An Evening of Shakespeare this Saturday, March 23, 2013. Performing artists of all ages are invited to participate in these free sessions from 10:30am-1pm.

Children’s Workshop
 Ages 5-11


Shakespeare Fashion Show (with some awesome sword play)
: Participants will play theatre games, talk about Shakespeare and make their own Shakespearean costume piece. At the end of the evening, their pieces and performances will be showcased for our evening audience. The cost is free. Space is limited so all students must pre-register. Keep in mind that children attending the workshops must be available to take part in the Evening of Shakespeare at 7:00 pm. Click here to register.

Young Adult Workshop
 Ages 12-17


Participants will play theatre games and read through the Act 1 Scene 1 of Romeo and Juliet. There will be discussion on the text as well as brief analysis. Participants will then learn some simple Stage combat moves. There will be a staging of the fight scene in Act 1 Scene 1 to be showcased for our evening audience. The cost is free. Space is limited so all students must pre-register. Keep in mind that those attending the workshops must be available to take part in the Evening of Shakespeare at 7:00 pm. Click here to register.

Adult Workshop 
Ages 18-infinity

Textual discussion and play analysis of some key scenes in Romeo and Juliet with LST actors Noah Simon and Jillian Rafa. The cost is free. Space is limited so all students must pre-register. Click here to register.
